Let's Sweat it Together

About us

Over 2,000 children and young people call or web text Childline every week – that’s over 100,000 a year! They contact us about issues such as arguing with their brother/sister, scared about moving school, anxious about their test, feeling lonely, falling out with friends etc. And they contact us about other issues such as loss of a parent, family breaking down/fighting, emotional and mental health, abuse, self-harm, and suicide.

We are Ireland’s only 24 hour, 365 days a year listening service for children and teenagers. ISPCC needs to raise over 75% of its funding through donations each year to ensure we can be there to support children and young people. We rely heavily on the generosity of the public, people like you to keep our service alive.

Supporters like you are making a real difference every day, your generosity helps us to make sure children and young people don’t have to face their challenges alone.

On behalf of all the children and young people who seek support from Childline – and the volunteers and staff who are there for them – thank you for your fantastic support!

How to take part in the Lap and Chat Challenge:
Ask a friend or family member to go for a walk in the park, a lap around your area, or a local trail. If you are taking part as a school, scroll to the bottom of this page and click through to Lap and Chat 2024.

During your lap, chat about what is on your mind and what may be worrying you both. If you are taking part with a family member or friend, follow the steps here:

Click the donate button on this page either before or after your Lap and Chat.
Invite a friend or family member to take on the Lap and Chat challenge. Organise a time, day, and place to Lap and Chat.
Get walking together and chat about what may be worrying you both!
Send the link to your friend/family member to donate. Leave a message when making your donation, letting us know what you chatted about and who you took on the challenge with.

You will both receive a completion certificate. Why not share your certificate through WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram to let everyone know you took on the challenge and supported Childline this Spring.

We at ISPCC know how the children of Ireland are feeling. We know what is on their minds and how they are coping, and more importantly how they are not coping. Last year, our 24/7 Childline Listening Service experienced a significant increase in conversations from children seeking support in relation to thoughts about suicide, conflict in the home and feelings of low mood and unhappiness.

Having recently lived through a global pandemic and now entering a period of economic uncertainty, kids can too often be told to not sweat the small stuff.

That is where Childline comes in; because at Childline our belief is simple; if it's BIG to you; it's BIG to
us.
